In the braking system of trucks, brake pads are the most critical safety component, and the quality of all braking effects is determined by the brake pads. Therefore, a good brake pad is the protector of people and trucks.
Once the braking system fails, the consequences will be unimaginable. Therefore, when using the vehicle (especially after driving a certain number of kilometers), it is necessary to frequently check whether the brake system is damaged or needs to be replaced!
udging by thickness
During long-term use, the thickness of brake pads will become thinner and thinner as they continue to rub during braking. The service life of ordinary brake pads is generally around 40000 to 60000 kilometers, while the harsh driving environment and aggressive driving style can also shorten the service life in advance.
Visible brake pad thickness
When the brake pads of a vehicle model cannot be seen with the naked eye due to the design of the brake caliper, a maintenance technician can remove the wheels and inspect the brake pads when maintaining the vehicle.
oth segments of the brake pad have a raised logo, approximately 2-3 millimeters thick, which is the thinnest replacement limit for the brake pad. If it is found that the thickness of the brake pad is almost parallel to the mark, it is necessary to immediately replace the brake pad.
Audible judgment
When lightly braking, if you hear a sharp and harsh "squeal" sound, it indicates that the thickness has reached the limit, causing the markings on both sides to directly rub against the brake disc. It must be replaced immediately at this time.
Observation groove
Most brake discs have small grooves, known as wear indicators. When the brake disc is worn so that no small grooves are visible, it indicates that the wear limit has been reached and the brake disc needs to be replaced immediately.
Finger touch judgment
Due to frequent friction, it is normal for many small scratches to appear on the brake disc.
However, if the scratches are significantly deeper and form a shape similar to a small groove, you can touch the edge of the groove with your fingers. If the edges are sharp, it indicates that the grooves are deep, and we need to consult the 4S store if they need to be replaced.
Judging by the indicator light of the instrument cluster
The brake indicator light on the instrument panel lights up, indicating a fault in the vehicle's braking system.
Emphasis should be placed on checking the brake discs (pads) for excessive wear. If there is no obvious excessive wear on the brake disc (pad), it may be due to insufficient brake oil or a problem on the wiring that causes the brake indicator light to constantly light up. It should be inspected and repaired as soon as possible.
